Crawley Blinds & Awnings is a proudly family-owned and operated blind and awning business in Townsville, North Queensland. Established by Neil and Elna Crawley in the 1970s, the business has been providing quality blinds, awnings and screens to Townsville homes and businesses for more than 40 years.
Our extensive experience has given us a unique understanding of Townsville’s tropical climate, harsh Queensland sun and extreme weather conditions. We don’t simply sell window coverings — we use our decades of experience to recommend products and materials that are designed to perform in North Queensland conditions.
A Proud Townsville Family Business
Crawley Blinds & Awnings began manufacturing and installing blinds, screens and awnings in Kirwan. As the business grew, our manufacturing operations moved to a warehouse in Garbutt while our retail showroom remained in Kirwan.
In 1988, we moved to our current premises at 3 Castlemaine Street, Kirwan, bringing our manufacturing and retail operations together. This move allowed the business to expand its manufacturing capabilities while continuing to provide personalised service to customers throughout Townsville and the surrounding North Queensland region.
Today, Crawley Blinds & Awnings remains a Crawley family business, with the knowledge, experience and commitment built over generations continuing to guide the business.
More Than 40 Years of Blind and Awning Experience
Over the past four decades, Crawley Blinds & Awnings has developed extensive expertise in the design, manufacture and installation of blinds, awnings and screens.
Our experience has also extended beyond our own business. Over the years, blind and awning suppliers from across Australia have sought the Crawley family’s knowledge and advice on product manufacturing, engineering, troubleshooting and practical solutions.

The Development of Tropicool Steel Awnings
One of the significant contributions made by Neil Crawley to the awning industry was his involvement in the engineering, design and development of the Colourbonded TROPICOOL Steel Awning range, together with Valectro Industries.
TROPICOOL Steel Awnings were developed to provide a stronger and more durable awning solution specifically suited to the conditions experienced in North Queensland.
The tropical climate presents unique challenges for outdoor products, including intense sunlight, heat, humidity and severe weather. The development of the TROPICOOL range helped provide North Queensland customers with an awning solution engineered with these conditions in mind.
Crawley Blinds & Awnings are to this day still the ONLY COMPANY that continues to offer the TROPICOOL range of Hooded and Louvered Awnings, manufactured to the original engineering specifications.
